Thematic breakout sessions
The race to climate-neutral aviation won’t be won by technology alone: it depends on people. Yet today, the talent pipeline is leaking. In this interactive session, you will map the human capital funnel, spot the biggest leaks and bottlenecks, and co-create bold ideas to fix them.
Moderator: Annemarie Strik (Talent voor Techniek)
Beyond individual strategies, the strength of a well-functioning ecosystem lies in its ability to generate shared value for all players involved. Achieving this requires not only collaboration, but also a genuine understanding of each other’s perspectives, priorities, and constraints. How can stakeholders identify and align these different viewpoints in order to create collective wins? In this breakout, participants will engage in a game designed around a challenging case, where they will be invited to step into another perspective and explore how ecosystems can unleash their full potential.
Moderator: Pieter Paul van Oerle (nlmtd)
How do we accelerate the journey from research and ideas to real-world application in aviation? This session brings together startups, researchers, investors and industry leaders to explore the challenges of moving from early-stage innovation to large-scale adoption. Through two dynamic panels and interactive discussion with the audience, we will uncover barriers, share insights, and identify the actions needed to turn knowledge into impact.
Moderator: Kjelt van Rijswijk (LiT)
Panel participants: Sebastien van den Abeele (Fiducial), Victor Rijkaart (TUDelft / Aerospace Innovation Hub), Daniel Rosen Jacobsen (Elysian), Mirjam Ros (nlmtd), Martin Nagelsmit (NLR), Thomas Anbeek (LiT Venture Lab), Guido Schwartz (Airbus Netherlands)
Aviation, road transport and maritime all face major challenges on the path to sustainable mobility – but also show promising developments. In this session, we explore the complexities within each sector and highlight where they can reinforce and accelerate each other. Through open discussion and a panel with leaders across industries, we will uncover opportunities for collaboration and identify next steps toward a more sustainable transport system.
Moderator: Leo Warmerdam (High Tech NL)
Panel participants: Bart Biebuyck (GreenEnergy Park), Peter Engels (RAI & Battery Company Cluster), Jens van den Berg (NAG), Sandrine Suter (Shell) , Dan Veen (NMT-IRO) and Simon Weeks.
Addressing the system-of-systems challenge of introducing hydrogen-based aviation.
Beyond the technical challenges of adopting hydrogen as an on-board energy source, the aviation sector must also secure a reliable supply and distribution of hydrogen at competitive costs and sufficient volumes, while developing, investing in, and deploying the infrastructure needed to fuel hydrogen-powered aircraft. How do we ensure a coordinated synchronous approach so that there is a compelling investment/business case for hydrogen-powered aircraft? What role can upstream producers, distributors, airports, and airlines play, and which policy and regulatory mechanisms are needed?
Moderator: Patrick Cnubben (Hydrogen Architects)
Panel participants: Rudolph Coertz (Conscious Aerospace), Daan van Dijk (Rotterdam The Hague Airport), Daniel Kierben (Airbus), Carol Xiao (Groenvermogen), Colin Hancock (EASA)
Shaping the future of aviation requires not just new technology, but smarter ways of certifying it. Representatives from the CAA-NL and Aerospace industry will explain how a sound strategy of co-operation, thought leadership and policy-making pave the way for an effective certification approach in aerospace innovation.
Felix Wong (CAA-NL) will highlight the authority’s proactive approach in facilitating an experimental regime that coincided with the launch of LiT. Jenny van der Pols (ADSE) will illustrate the importance of concurrent engineering, and Bart-Jan Rietdijk will elaborate on the cooperation with EASA. Thomas Dumoulin (NLR) will present the CONCERTO project on certification.
Moderator: Eric van der Veen (LiT)
Speakers: Felix Wong (ILT), Jenny van der Pols (ADSE) , Thomas Dumoulin (NLR) and Bart-Jan Rietdijk (Conscious Aerospace).
