Climate adaptation: A way forward for urbanized deltas

225 years of working experience to make the Netherlands safe, secure, attractive and accessible for all.

Rijkswaterstaat is marking its 225th anniversary during an international symposium featuring top experts.

When and where
The symposium takes place from November 1st to 3rd 2023 at the historical venue Het Arsenaal in the heart of the city of Delft. It is with great pleasure that we would like to invite you to the international symposium.

About the symposium
Our aim is to discuss common challenges and approaches in a workshop setting over the course of 3 days. Like many urbanized delta’s with an increasing population and growing environmental concern, we are facing climate change impacts on our infrastructure.

The subthemes are:

  1. Extreme river events
  2. Resilient coasts and urban protection
  3. Implementation of an asset management system
  4. Climate resilient waterways: cross border challenges for shipping
  5. Vital urban nodes as part of climate resilient corridors
  6. Climate and Biodiversity: to a nature positive future

Do you want to know more? You can read all about it in Subthemes. There is also a more detailed programme of the three days. To find a hotel in Delft, you can consult our page Venue & hotels for tips and discounts.
